Level I One Day MTB Clinic
Saturday May 24, 2008

Meeting time and place:
We will be meeting at 8:30 am – ready to ride - at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs. Monument Valley Park is quite large, so please use the small parking area located at the western most end of West Fontanero, where it dead ends into the park.

Directions and parking:
From I-25 exit East Filmore Street and go east to Cascade Ave. Turn right/south) to East Fontanero (go right/west). Proceed past Wood and Alamo Avenues until you see the road turn left/south. This is the intersection of West Fontanero Street and Culebra Place. You should see the small parking area in front of you – if the lot is full, you can park along the west side of the street, adjacent to the park. If you have trouble locating the parking area, please call Alison at (719) 439-9041 or Greg (719) 439-9136.

What we’re doing:
The morning session is all about learning the basic fundamentals of riding a mountain bike. We will talk about positioning, balance, cornering, braking, shifting, mounting and dismounting your bike; riding up and down curbs; climbing and descending; plus anything else we can come up with – or any requests you may have.

Where we’re riding:
We will be riding in the northern portion of Monument Valley Park, utilizing the grass just south of the softball field to work on skills. We will be riding on the various bike paths and trails in the park. We are also going to use some of the man made obstacles in the park for skill work.

Lunch:
We will enjoy a tasty lunch in the park, compliments of the Alison Dunlap Adventure Camps. This will also be a good time to dig into your sponsor swag bag. Sorry, I can’t reveal the contents, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Afternoon:
After lunch, we’ll jump back on our bikes for more skills and drills. We’ll review what we learned in the morning and then move on to more advanced techniques.

Conclusion of the clinic:
After answering any questions you might have and taking group photos we’ll send you on your way, loaded with a huge amount of new skills and information.
