“We’ve been called everything from fitness freaks and endorphin junkies to mountain jocks. We can’t help it. We love to ride our bikes! In our family the bikes have taken over our lives. Everything we do each day is geared around when and now long we want to ride. Meals are cooked based on how far we’ve ridden and the loads of laundry are directly related to how often we’ve gotten out on the bikes. When you’ve been riding since the beginning of time, (or your fifth birthday), its hard not to have cycling be a huge part of your life. We have experienced everything from rigid forks, toe clips, Levi jeans, and day glow jerseys, to $7000 carbon fiber mountain bikes, power meters, internet based coaching, high tech energy drinks, and GPS devices that never let you get lost. Little did we know that we would make a living at riding bikes. Whether we’re professional cyclists racing around the country and all over the world, or instructors at a skills clinic, cycling has and always will be our crazy passion and love. It’s in our blood.
We have always had a fascination with the Moab area. I started coming to the desert with my dad in 1974. He took me on a five day backpacking trip through Grand Gulch. Greg started coming in the late eighties to ride in the Fat Tire Festival. Since then our obsession with the area has only grown and intensified. I still make a yearly week long trip with my dad to the desert southwest (23yrs and counting!) and both of us come at least twice a year to ride with friends, eat good food, and take cool pictures. We even got engaged and had our honeymoon in the Moab area!
Even though our competitive days are behind us, our enthusiasm and energy for riding are still all-consuming. It seemed a natural fit to start a project that would combine our love of the desert, our passion for the sport, and our desire to share with others what we’ve learned about cycling since that first bike ride thirty some odd years ago. Creating the Alison Dunlap Adventure Camps has given us the opportunity to teach others how to ride bikes, meet amazing people, eat a lot of good food, and ride in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Our mountain bike camps are all about you. We’re there to take you on incredible rides, teach you skills and techniques, feed you amazing food, fix your bike for you, and share with you stories and advice from our many years in the sport. Come join us for an adventure you’ll never forget.
